Blue & White - Third Greek Republic
The Blue and White features nine blue and white stripes with a a blue canton in the top left corner, with a white cross on top. The Flag was adopted by the Greek Military Junta in 1967 with a darker shade of blue. The flag was adopted in 1974 by the newly formed Third Greek republic, but with a lighter shade of blue.

Dannebrog - Kingdom of Denmark
The Dannebrog features a red banner with a white Nordic cross. The flag first originated 1219, and was recognized as the official Danish flag in 1625. It is the oldest flag.

Rising Sun - Empire of Japan
The Rising Sun featured a white banner with a red dot representing the sun and red beams of light coming from it. It was the flag of the Empire of Japan, and though not the national flag, is still the Japanese naval ensign.

Continental Colors - United States
The Continental Colors featured thirteen red and white stripes for the thirteen colonies and a British flag in the top left corner. It was the Flag of the Continental Army from 1775 to 1777, when congress chose the Betsy Ross as the U.S. Flag.

The Star Spangled Banner features a Blue canton with 50 stars, and red and white. It has been the US Flag (with different star arrangements) since 1777.

The Hinomaru has features a white banner with a red dot. It has been the Japanese flag since 1945, after defeat in World War II and the end of the Japanese Empire.

The Il Tricolore features a green, white, and red tricolor. It has been the Italian flag 1945, after defeat in World War II and the end of the Italian Empire.

The Tricolore features a blue, white, and red tricolor. It has been a French flag since the French Revolution in 1789.

Lone Star Flag - Texas
The Lone Star Flag features a white top, blue bottom, with a blue bar on the left side, along with a star on the blue bar. It was adopted as the Texan flag in 1839 what Texas got independence from Mexico. Texas then became part of the US, but still uses this flag.

Bundesflagge - Germany
The Bundesflagge features a back top, red middle, and yellow bottom. It was the flag of Germany after their defeat in WWI, until Hitler came into power. After Hitler's defeat in WWII, Germany was divided and West Germany adopted the Bundesflagge flag. The Bundesflagge became Germany's flag after reunification.

The flag of Egypt features a red top white middle and a black bottom, with an eagle on the white. Egypt is the oldest civilization. Egypt adopted its flag in 1805

The Hammer and Sickle features a red background, with a yellow Hammer and Sickle, with yellow star on top in the corner.

Flag of Taiwan (ROC)
The flag of Taiwan features a red background with a blue canton in the top left Corner. The blue Canton has a white sun on top of it. The ROC adopted the flag in 1928. When the ROC lost the Chinese Civil War against the Communists they fled to Taiwan. The Communists still claim to own All of China and Taiwan.

The Norges Flagg features a red background, with a Nordic Cross that's white on the outside and blue on the inside. It was made in 1821. It was based off the Danish Flag, because of the Denmark-Norway Union.

The Flag of the D.R. has a white cross, with the national seal in the middle seal in the middle. The top right and bottom left are red, while the top left and the bottom right are blue. The flag was adopted in 1863.

The Tricolor - Iran
The lion and sun symbols of Iran have been used on flags since the 15th Century. The green and red came in the 19th Century, when a green and red border was added to the flag. In 1906 the green and red border became a green and red tricolor, with a lion in the middle. In 1979 the lion was replaced with new Iranian coat of Arms.

Flag of the Finland, in the Wind
Finland received its own coat of arms of during the 16th century, but when Finland went from Swedish to Russian rule they lost their autonomy. During this time A flag with White for Finland’s snow and Blue for it’s thousands of lakes was proposed. It later became Finland’s flag upon Finland’s independence

St. George’s Cross - England
St. George’s Cross features a white flag with a Red Cross. England originally adopted the flag so that it’s ships in the Mediterranean would have Genoese Protection.

Svergies Flagga - Sweden
The Swedish coat of arms that dates back to the 14th Century features a blue shield with three golden crowns. This probably was the inspiration for the blue and yellow color scheme. The modern flag features a blue background with a yellow Scandinavian cross. This flag was based of the Danish Flag
